Mag ik mij even voorstellen?
Ik ben Els, sinds kinds af aan heb ik de passie voor fotografie te pakken. Ik hou er nu eenmaal van om schoonheid te verspreiden. Wanneer ik aan het werk ben, vergeet ik de hele wereld en ben ik enkel aan het ‘voelen’ en me aan het amuseren.
Alles heeft een begin en zo is langzaamaan ook mijn eigen stijl naar boven gekomen. Ik hou vooral van fotograferen met natuurlijk licht. Ik hou van mensen, ik hou van kinderen, ik hou van muzikanten. Ik hou van verbondenheid. Zo ben ik al van bij de start de huisfotografe van Allez, Chantez!.
Omdat ik van mensen én fotograferen hou, heb ik gecertificeerde opleidingen gevolgd tot master coach en creatief coach. Dit met het oog op workshops organiseren en om individuele begeleidingen te geven voor mensen die moeilijk kunnen praten over hun gevoel. Ik wil hen heel graag helpen om dit gevoel naar boven te brengen met fotografie als hulpmiddel.
Verder heb ik enkele solotentoonstellingen en groepstentoonstellingen gehad en heb ik 2 jaar ('21-'23) rondgetoerd met mijn installatie
'ALS IK HET LICHT UITDOE, ZIE IK MEZELF DAN?’
Dit is een installatie van ongeveer 10 minuten waarin wordt gesproken over het gegeven dat we als kind puur worden geboren maar naargelang we ouder worden, we onszelf niet meer mogen/kunnen zijn, door allerlei omstandigheden of mensen die in ons leven opduiken. Deze voorstelling omvat mijn 4 passies: woord, beeld, muziek en dans en kan ingehuurd worden voor scholen, psychiatrische instellingen, psychologen, opvoedcentra, … Het project is vertoond geweest in bijna heel Vlaanderen alsook in Amsterdam. Ik heb hier ook een naslagwerk van in boekvorm.

In 2024 heb ik een nieuw sociaal maatschappelijk project gemaakt rond burn-out.
'ALLES IS EEN OLIFANT.' is een video-installatie waarin ik het diepste en het rauwste toon van de burn-out die ik zelf heb gehad. Hiermee wil ik een steun zijn voor mensen die geconfronteerd worden met deze aandoening. Alsook een bewustmaking genereren, voor de non-believers, dat het geen luiheid of aanstellerij is. Ook dit project kan gehuurd worden door scholen, psychologen, ed..

In 2014 heb ik de derde en publieksprijs gehaald bij Curieus Gent en in 2017 de tweede prijs in het Fotomuseum van Amsterdam. Eveneens in 2014 heb ik een week workshop mogen volgen in Parijs bij Richard Dumas ( Agence VU) en in 2016 bij Bieke Depoorter in Brussel. Voor de provincie West-Vlaanderen heb ik een heel leuk en groot project mogen fotograferen rond migratie op de werkvloer.

May I introduce myself?
My name is Els, and ever since I was a child, I’ve been passionate about photography. I simply love spreading beauty. When I’m working, I forget the world around me — I’m fully immersed in feeling, in creating, and in having fun.
Everything has a beginning, and over time, my own style has naturally emerged. I especially love working with natural light. I love people. I love children. I love musicians. I love connection. That's why I’ve been the In-house photographer for Allez, Chantez! since the very beginning.
Because I love both people and photography, I’ve completed certified training to become a master coach and creative coach. This allows me to organize workshops and offer one-on-one guidance for people who find it difficult to talk about their emotions. I’m passionate about helping them express those feelings — using photography as a tool.
In addition, I’ve participated in several solo and group exhibitions, and from 2021 to 2023, I toured with my installation:
"WHEN I SWITCH OFF THE LIGHT, DO I SEE MYSELF?"
This is a 10-minute installation that explores the idea that we are born pure as children, but as we grow older, life and the people we encounter can cause us to lose sight of who we truly are. This piece brings together my four greatest passions: words, images, music, and dance. It can be booked by schools, mental health institutions, therapists, parenting centers, and more. The project has been shown throughout Flanders, as well as in Amsterdam, and I’ve published a book as a companion to the work.

In 2024, I created a new social and societal project about burnout.
"EVERYTHING IS AN ELEPHANT."
This is a video installation in which I share the deepest and rawest parts of the burnout I personally experienced. With this project, I hope to support others who are facing the same struggle and to raise awareness — especially among those who still believe burnout is just laziness or overreacting. This work can also be booked by schools, therapists, and similar organizations.

In 2014, I won the third prize and the audience award at Curieus Gent, and in 2017, I received second prize at the Photography Museum of Amsterdam.
In 2014, I also had the opportunity to attend a week-long workshop in Paris with Richard Dumas (Agence VU), and in 2016 with Bieke Depoorter in Brussels.
For the Province of West Flanders, I was lucky to photograph a large and beautiful project about migration in the workplace.
